Post Luctum

Post Luctum is a Melodic Death/Doom project created in 2019 by Ian Goetchius in Southern Maryland. (USA) The sound is steeped in sorrow, weight, and the slow, deliberate descent into emotional ruin. The band draws from the heaviest traditions of death-doom, merging crushing riffs and cavernous vocals with mournful melodies and a sense of atmospheric dread that lingers long after the final note fades. Post Luctum - Latin for “after mourning” - embodies its name fully. Their music dwells in the aftermath: the numb quiet that follows loss, the cold clarity of reflection, and the bleak beauty discovered in ruins. With influences ranging from Swallow the Sun, Cult of Luna, Paradise Lost, and Shape of Despair, the band shapes these elements into something distinctly their own - raw, introspective, and emotionally unrelenting.
