Formed in Espoo in 2000, Kiuas rose to the forefront of Finnish metal in the 2000s with its unique blend of power, folk and melodic death metal. The band released four studio albums – "The Spirit of Ukko" (2005), "Reformation" (2006), "The New Dark Age" (2008) and "Lustdriven" (2010) – toured Europe, UK, US and Japan alongside some of the biggest names in the genre, and earned a reputation as one of the most distinctive live acts of its generation before going on hiatus in 2013.
Awakened from a long slumber in 2021, Kiuas has made a triumphant return to the Finnish live music scene with its original lineup: Ilja Jalkanen, Mikko Salovaara, Atte Tanskanen, Teemu Tuominen, and Markku Näreneva. Their comeback was far from just a nostalgic trip down memory lane. In spring 2024, the band released a new and critically acclaimed EP, "Samooja: Pyhiinvaellus", which was followed by an extensive tour of Finnish clubs and festivals.
Now Kiuas reveals a new side of itself: the band's first-ever acoustic single, "The Marsh Awaits", released on August 20, 2026. The song paves the way for this fall's semi-acoustic "An Evening With Kiuas" special shows at Tavastia in Helsinki, Olympia in Tampere, and Louhisali in Espoo, where the band will perform its music in a more intimate and delicate form than ever before.
