Leadbelcher's debut album, Heaven's Bloated Corpse, is a furious condemnation of corruption, decay, and the enduring grip of organized religion in Ireland. Drawing on centuries of hypocrisy, abuse, and institutional power, the album channels that rot into a savage blend of death metal, grind, and d-beat that the band describes as dissident death metal.
Formed in Ireland in 2024 by members and former members of Sermon Of Flames, Mortichnia, and Coscradh, Leadbelcher deliver music that is filthy, nihilistic, and uncompromising. As Apocalyptic Witchcraft label head Conor Droney puts it: "Leadbelcher sound like Ireland's decay given physical form, a suffocating collision of scum-soaked death metal, grinding blasts, and d-beat filth."
Speaking about the album's themes, the band states:
"It is impossible to escape the indoctrination of religion in Ireland, be it North or South. It is in our schools, inflicted upon our children, and rooted within our political parties. It is the constant murmur of segregated communities, and a façade used to justify views soaked in hatred. Prayer does not relieve you of your crimes—some people are not worthy of a saviour. This is transubstantiation to the extreme; this isn't just partaking in communion with God, it's eating the entire bloated corpse."
That concept reaches its most grotesque expression in the album's imagery and lyrics, twisting Christian ritual into scenes of ritual consumption and desecration. Songs such as "Pisscorpse," "Narrowhouse," "Severance Of Belief," and "Light Of Vile Elucidation" unleash relentless waves of grotesque riffs, punishing percussion, and deranged vocals, evoking a world consumed by violence, disease, and spiritual collapse.
Recorded and mixed by Josh Robinson (JSR Audio, Belfast), mastered by James Plotkin (Blasphemy, Khanate, Leviathan), and featuring artwork by Adam Medford, Heaven's Bloated Corpse captures Leadbelcher's complete rejection of humanity with crushing power and nightmarish atmosphere.
