CRIMSON WAYS

Cotard (A Short Tale of Eternal Love)

COTARD (A Short Tale of Eternal Love)
Lying so close to me, breathing as one
We see ourselves rotting like the fruits of eden
Pale hands in tender grasp, sweet fumes of corpses
Charming silent hearts never to beat again
And the moon is shining through the holes in our flesh
The clammy hands of death reveal the silver lining
Nothing left to feel or say, decomposing hopes and dreams
And all the tears are washed away
There are no dreams now, closing our eyes we see nothing
Numb and grey we have long slipped away
And the moon is shining through the holes in our flesh
The clammy hands of death reveal the silver lining
Nothing left to feel or say, decomposing hopes and dreams
The soil is warmer than it seems
And all the tears are washed away
And so we lie until the winds cast us apart

Dealing with the spiritually transformative potential of loss, love and longing, CRIMSON WAYS reinterprets the driving and melancholic soundscapes of 90s grunge through the lense of classic death metal. Where metallic riffing meets hard hitting grooves and dreamy melodies, where grim despair is countered by comfort and solace, you find that there always is a light that will pierce the gloom. On this debut LP, seven Death-Doom-Rock tracks reminisce of pains and pleasures gone by, invoking references to acts such as Catherine Wheel and early Katatonia.

Recorded by Leopold Preuß at Schönefeld Sunrise Studios
Ambient soundscapes on 'Fields of Gold' by Fabian van Beek
Mixed by Leopold Preuß
Mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studio
