Die Brücke basiert auf der Idee eines alten Flugblatts, das in den 1960er-Jahren über Gotha abgeworfen wurde und zur sogenannten „Republikflucht“ aufrief. Der historische Bezug verbindet sich mit einer persönlichen Perspektive: Ich bin in Lehesten aufgewachsen, einem Ort direkt an der ehemaligen innerdeutschen Grenze, in unmittelbarer Nähe zur damaligen Sperr- und Todeszone zwischen DDR und BRD. Das Video zum Lied wurde an einer alten Brücke im ehemaligen Grenzgebiet gedreht. Die Brücke führte geografisch von der DDR-Seite in Richtung BRD-Seite. Zur Zeit der deutschen Teilung lag dieser Bereich jedoch im sogenannten Niemandsland. Vor dem Hintergrund der aktuellen gesellschaftlichen und politischen Spannungen erhält der Text eine zusätzliche Ebene. Die Brücke verweist nicht nur auf eine konkrete historische Grenze, sondern auch auf heutige Formen von Spaltung: auf das Denken in Lagern, alles Schwarz-Weiß und auf die zunehmende Schwierigkeit, Zwischentöne zuzulassen.

“Die Brücke” is based on the idea of an old leaflet that was dropped over Gotha in the 1960s, calling on people to flee the GDR in what was known as Republikflucht. This historical reference is intertwined with a personal perspective: I grew up in Lehesten, a town located directly on the former inner-German border, in close proximity to what was then the restricted and death strip between East and West Germany. The video for the song was filmed on an old bridge in the former border region. Geographically, the bridge led from the GDR side towards the West German side. During the years of German division, however, this area lay within the so-called no-man’s-land. Against the backdrop of today’s social and political tensions, the lyrics take on an additional layer of meaning. The bridge refers not only to a concrete historical border, but also to contemporary forms of division: to entrenched camps, black-and-white thinking, and the growing difficulty of allowing for nuance.

HEILSTATT is the new project by Valkenstijn (MOSAIC) - in which he processes his impressions of the modern world, which is driven by hectic and indifference - a mirror of the working class: Gray, exhausted, melancholic, depressive...
Where MOSAIC was dominated by mythological vastness and folkloric darkness, HEILSTATT is characterized by absolute reduction. Cool clarity. Mantric repetition. The lyrics are more immediate, more existential, permeated by the cracks of the turning point in history. Falkenstein holds up a mirror to humanity – without pathos, without escape – and in doing so processes deeply personal experiences between disillusionment, longing, and an inner desire for peace.
Musically, HEILSTATT moves in a field of tension between early post-punk, brittle trip-hop, classic gothic, and depressive punk attitude. Pulsating minimalism meets cold surfaces, stoic rhythms meet fragile melodies. The songs are urban nightscapes – completely otherworldly.
