ABOUT GASTEM:
Originally formed in Damascus, Maryland, GASTEM emerged from the thriving ’80s hard rock scene between 1985 and 1989, building a loyal following throughout Baltimore and Washington, D.C. with their infectious melodic hooks, powerful live performances, and arena-sized sound.
The band is perhaps best known as the original home of longtime KIX bassist Mark Schenker.

Throughout the 1980s, GASTEM became a staple of the Baltimore–Washington–Virginia club circuit, headlining packed venues and sharing stages with numerous national acts, including their Baltimore brothers, KIX. Schenker would later join KIX full-time in 2001, remaining with the platinum-selling band through their final performance in 2023.

After an incredible 34-year hiatus, GASTEM reunited in early 2024 to record the critically acclaimed III, before celebrating the band’s 40th Anniversary in 2025 with deluxe reissues of their long out-of-print albums Catch the Flame and Do It Like Wild through Eonian Records.

Now, GASTEM returns to Hard to Stop! a powerful new collection that may stand as the band’s finest work to date. Packed with unforgettable hooks, soaring vocals, rich harmonies, and massive anthemic choruses, the album delivers everything fans of timeless melodic hard rock could hope for - and more.

THE RETURN: GASTEM AND BEYOND…

After decades away from the spotlight, GASTEM made a triumphant return in early 2024 with III, their first new album in 34 years. Released through Avalon Street Records in October 2024, the album received enthusiastic praise from both online and print media, with critics celebrating its infectious hooks, soaring melodic hard rock energy, and rich Beatle-esque harmonies. Blending timeless songwriting with polished modern production, III proved that GASTEM had not only returned, but delivered one of the standout melodic rock releases of the year.

The reunion, however, nearly never happened.

As plans for the project were coming together, tragedy struck when original bassist Mark Emon suddenly passed away from a heart attack.

“When Rob got the news that my dear friend Emon had died suddenly… I had to pause,” recalls drummer Craig Stegall. “We were going to scratch the whole idea.”

Despite the heartbreaking loss, the surviving members - Rob Galpin, Craig Stegall, and longtime friend and bassist Mark Schenker - ultimately chose to move forward in honor of Emon’s memory. Following heartfelt conversations with Emon’s family, Schenker, who recently retired after a celebrated 23-year run with KIX, stepped in to handle bass duties on the album.

The result was III, a record that not only captured GASTEM’s signature melodic hard rock spirit but also served as a heartfelt tribute to their late bandmate. More than three decades after their last release, GASTEM returned with renewed purpose and determination to complete what all four members had originally set out to create together. III also marked the beginning of the band’s partnership with Eonian Records as distributor and label partner.

But the celebration does not stop there.

Building on the momentum of III, along with the successful 40th Anniversary reissues of Catch the Flame and Do It Like Wild, Eonian Records proudly presents Hard to Stop! a companion album recorded during the III sessions. The album further showcases GASTEM’s enduring relevance, masterful songwriting, and undeniable melodic hard rock fire - proving that some bands only get stronger with time.
