" Pledge" marks a key moment in the storyline of A House Divided, where one of the album’s anti-heroes, the Archpriest, performs a ritual to invoke the old gods that were abandoned by his people centuries earlier. He seeks eternal life and is prepared to sacrifice his own brothers and sisters to achieve it.

All of this unfolds through the fusion of atmospheric black metal and doom elements that defines the signature sound of Divine Sovereign.
