So finally, Episode 2 of The Ruby Quaker Show is here!
The objective of this series is less about trying to create a “show” and more about using a metaphor to describe the process of writing and creating music. As such, this episode is essentially about the release of the moth, and making a ‘difficult decision’ to keep going forward with this new creative venture.
It seems more and more that we’re presented with scenarios that ask for both faith and courage, without any guarantee that things won’t fall flat on their face. I feel that both as a team and as an artist, we’ve made decisions lately that fall into this realm. And as the type of creator I am, I can only truthfully draw from my own experiences if I want to stay emotionally connected to the work we do, so perspective is everything.
Therefore, expect the Ruby Quaker Show to act as a map through our unconscious minds over here =0 To externalize a process into something I can see and observe allows for perspectives on life that I feel couldn’t be accessed otherwise to observe and write about.
Where Ziltoid, for example, was the personification of the part of me that had just come off of SYL, had a kid, and changed my lifestyle (I saw my nature as simultaneously alien and geeky), Ruby Quaker acts as an objectification of the creative push to explore new areas of ourselves. To face it all.
Man… what a nerd. I know =)
But I’d also say that arguably the most important part of this transition is the voice that secretly says to us: “Fuck ’em… do what you’re compelled to do…”
So hey… here’s Ruby Quaker Show Episode 2, followed by the release of The Moth!
