Your dignity,
For a pair of taxidermic wings.
How convenient!
When the room went crooked, you blinked.

Your palms,
Blistered from,
Clapping for a king that,
Erased your face.
Paper halo, hollow spine… borrowed time.

Suddenly flies come to blacken the skies,
As they drink up lies and they feed on decay.
The puppeteer’s strings tangle in their wings,
And they tumble to Earth under gluttonous weight.

Flying mOnkey!
(You are not welcome here)
Fly away!
This ain’t that kind of circus,
So get back!
I won’t be another victim to your rat pack,
Enjoy your plummet.
Flying mOnkey!

You may look different now,
But gravity recognizes you,
And it is calling you down.

I don’t walk the ground where the carrion lies,
I don’t trace the paths of the morally grey,
Gravity bets on devotion unchecked,
I don’t fall with the things that are born to obey.

Patience.

No one survives a favour.

Honour the dust that made you.
As it welcomes you home.
