About the song:
“Buried Alive,” one of the most energetic tracks from the album Devilish. The song delivers ferocious thrash metal with strong crossover hardcore influences and features a special guest appearance by Andreas Kisser (Sepultura), who recorded an exclusive guitar solo for the track.
The music video was filmed at the historic Pista de Skate da Saúde in São Paulo, one of the most traditional landmarks of the city’s underground scene. The skatepark has been home to generations of skaters since the 1980s and stands as a symbol of urban cultural resistance. The location carries a strong connection to the DIY and defiant spirit that also helped shape Brazilian metal.
Created in partnership with local skaters, the video shows Torture Squad delivering an intense performance inside the skatepark, amid the chaos and raw energy of São Paulo’s suburbs, while skaters “…” and “…” take over the space to the sound of the music, creating a visceral fusion of sound, movement, and attitude.
The concept of the video directly connects with the song’s theme, which addresses the struggle against anxiety and depression, presenting sport and music as paths to survival, expression, and confrontation of mental health issues in an often hostile daily reality.

Vocalist Mayara Puertas comments on the lyrics:
“I wrote the lyrics to ‘Buried Alive’ while I was actually having a panic attack, so it was a real outburst. People tend to downplay the suffering of those who face these illnesses, often believing that taking medication is enough, that it’s a lack of effort, or even a lack of ‘God,’ as I’ve heard a few times. It’s a constant struggle, and in this song I describe what it was like to go through all of that.”
Pista da Saúde also holds special meaning for Torture Squad, a band formed in the surrounding area in the 1990s. Drummer Amílcar Christófaro comments on this connection:
“Skateboarding and metal have always gone hand in hand, and that’s still true today. The Pista da Saúde came as a gift to the neighborhood skaters—by the time it was inaugurated in 1994, I was already stopping skating because of the band. I only really got to enjoy it later. I remember watching Suicidal Tendencies videos and going crazy wanting to make a TS video with skateboarding. The moment has arrived, and with a very powerful message from May.”
