The (John) Candy is best described as an experimental mash-up metalcore or sample‑core project. Their music consists almost entirely of heavily manipulated samples from hardcore, metal, djent, metalcore, pop culture, and movie quotes—wrapped in metalcore structures and nostalgic, absurdist production. They’ve been called a “nostalgia machine,” “sample‑core,” “nostalgia‑core,” and “tribute‑core”
