Stockholm Extreme Sounds Turns Five – A Brutal Anniversary in the Making
Stockholm’s underground extreme metal scene is set to get a serious jolt in March 2027, as Stockholm Extreme Sounds returns to celebrate its fifth anniversary with a two-day assault of uncompromising heaviness. For fans of the more violent corners of metal, this isn’t just another festival – it’s a carefully curated celebration of sonic brutality.
On 6 March 2027, the main festival takes over Stockholm with two stages dedicated entirely to extreme music, promising a lineup rooted deep in death metal, grindcore, goregrind and black metal. The organizers are once again leaning into the festival’s identity as a no-frills, high-intensity gathering for those who prefer their music fast, filthy, and relentlessly heavy.
Among the first confirmed names are Mexican-American chaos merchants Brujeria, Czech goregrind veterans Gutalax, and Greek black metal outfit Yoth Iria. They are joined by the relentless death metal force Fleshless and Sweden’s own Chaos In Control, with more acts still to be announced.
As if one night of sonic punishment wasn’t enough, the festival is preceded by a pre-party on 5 March at Hus7, setting the tone with a more intimate but equally aggressive lineup. Swedish brutality is well represented here, with Toxaemia and Gonadectomy leading the charge, alongside additional yet-to-be-revealed acts.
